When people ask me about how I found our new studio location in Simsbury, CT, I tell them that it was with reluctance that I met with the property manager. Teresa had to schedule more than one appointment with them for me since I really thought that Simsbury would be too far away from where we were living at the time. I couldn't imagine a 30-minute commute each direction every day.
That all changed when I arrived at Simsmore Square in Simsbury. The day that I went to see the possible studio location happened to be the last day of the 2009 Simsbury Farmers Market. What a scene! I loved the atmosphere, the fresh produce, the pumpkins and the kids running around eating kettle corn and tasting food samples. I immediately fell in love with the place.
So, with that being said (or written) I was very excited to actually be a "host" as a Simsmore Square tenant to this year's Farmer's Market.
I made it back to the studio just in time to see local NBC weather man Bob Maxon do the official opening
Bob looked to the sky hoping that the storms rumbling around the area wouldn't pass through Simsbury. We seemed to be blessed with a patch of blue sky and sunshine...
But alas, it only lasted a few moments.
The first week of the market was a wet one. That didn't dampen the spirit though. Town First Selectman Mary Glassman stopped by to check everything out here with Sarah Nielson, one of the market organizers.
Somebody's ready for some cake!
Feeling sorry for yourself? How about some "Pour Me Tea"?
If your looking for the market, turn where you see the waving ten-foot corn cob man.
