Florence at 107 Years!
Wow! Whoever said 40 years old is "old" hasn't met Florence. Florence is 107 years young!
I met Florence through my friend John Bell. John has been doing some renovation work for his friend Jeanne for the last few months. When I mentioned a personal project that I was working on he immediately thought of Florence, Jeanne's great aunt.
After our Winter Wonderland event, I was thinking about what we could do for our next studio event. I love cute kids but I wanted to focus on another group of people who often are overlooked and under-appreciated. I asked myself "Who in my life and family do I appreciate? What group of people add the most to my life?" Then I thought, "What about grandparents!"
Their wealth of acquired wisdom and knowledge are priceless. In today's fast-paced world it is easy to let too much time pass between visits, or phone calls to our grandparents (if we are still fortunate enough to have them with us). I also thought about grandparents who have grandchildren that live far away from them (like me).
Parents often take regular photographs of the grandkids to send to the grandparents, but what about great portraits of the grandparents? How great would it be if the grandchildren had beautiful portraits in the home of their grandparents to remind them of the special people that love them from afar!
That's why I am announcing our next event "Our Family Heritage: Our Grandparents!" Mark your calendars for Wednesday, March 31, 2010. We will have a studio gallery opening with original portraiture of some of the "great" grandparents of our community. See their portraits and meet the subjects in person and learn what makes them so special.
Facebook users can RSVP here. We can't wait to see you there.
