One Store... Two Covers

It was pretty cool going to the grocery store and seeing not one but two magazines with photos on the cover that I shot. Wow!!!

Visiting Teresa's Cousins in Cleveland

While back home in NW Pennsylvania we stopped to see Teresa's Uncle Joe and cousins in Cleveland. Mary Rose and Lou's little ones are so cute!

Winter Trip to PA

Usually when I visit the Erie, PA area in December, there is lots of snow on the ground. Ironically we have more snow in CT then they do here. Go figure!

It was fun to cut wood with my dad and my brother Dave. I love playing with my nephews too James & Daniel.

Thanks Dave for changing your mind about having me come with you on your winter expedition to the cottage in Ontario!!!

Some time ago Jackie found me on the internet and was so excited about her first family portrait session. The kids are grown up and have moved away so she planned to have me do an in-home session around the holidays. Here is a favorite from the session.

MJW Receives Entrepreneurial Success Story Award by TSBN

This was totally unexpected.

Last night I received the Entrepreneurial Success Story Award from The Small Business Network of Hartford, CT. This year was the first year that the group awarded 3 different awards for different aspects of excellence in entrepreneurship.

Out of Control Inbox - SOLVED!

Thanks to Amanda Harris of Orchard Cove Photography! She has been helping me get a hold on my inbox and email backlog.

That large cardboard box held the contents of my inbox during the move into the studio. It was really bad, but with Amanda's help it now looks like the photo below!

Acabella's Winter Concert

Aca-who?

Acabellas, as in a capella, as in no instrumental accompaniment singing.


Laura, one of our interns is a member of an elite singing group at CCSU and she keeps telling us about her performances with the Acabellas. Since I used to sing in the school chorus and appreciate how much work goes into performances like this (and I like live music anyway) I just had to go.

I can finally talk about it!!!

Well, I can finally talk about my big news that I was hinting at back in September. La Bella Bride magazine chose one of my photographs for the cover of the 2008 issue. We (my dream team*) also worked together to produce some photographs for some of their editorial pages.

This spread was originally shot for the cover but when Katina and her team saw the above image, they went nuts and had to have it for the cover. Appearing below are Rose Ellen (Teresa's cousin's cousin), Dawn (from the cover) and the only professional model, Losmir.


Interestingly enough, Rose Ellen's wedding was the week after this photo session. So not only was she a bit nervous to be modeling for a potential magazine cover, she had all her wedding stuff on her mind. Well, everything worked out well for her wedding. We couldn't make it since we were already booked for that weekend, but her dress was beautiful and unique. Rose Ellen's boss Donna Karan actually designed her dress for her exclusively (yes you read that correctly). Here's another photo of Rose Ellen below.

My New Neighbor('s kids)

One of the things I like about having a studio outside the home is the proximity to other businesses. I have a great bakery across the street, Truffles. I have architects and an appraiser next door. A salon next to where I park the car and a jewelry store too.

In my building (my closest neighbor) is a financial advisor with the cutest little kids. Here are some photos of them working with Daddy.
